imdea

IMDEA Water, a research Institute focused on water management issues, is directed towards optimizing public and private decision-making processes, emphasizing on the link between water, public services, the economy and institutions. The institute is gathering knowledge from experimental, legal and social sciences as well as engineering with the aim of generating relationship and interactions between different research units and topics in order to approach the XXI Century water Management. The scientific program of the Institute is based on the development of strategic lines for the integrated water management: management of sustainable bodies of water, quality pollution, water treatment and reuse and economic and institutional analysis.

IMDEA Water is member of several associations and platforms and works closely in research, services, knowledge transfer, mobility and training with agencies, universities and European and international research centers. Advanced Training of scientists and professionals is also a key issue for IMDEA Water, by organizing and collaborating in PhD, Masters and other training programmes, and therefore contributing to return to the society the effort realized supporting the Institute.

Regarding to the LIFE TRANSFOMEM project, it has several research projects in membrane technology and wastewater treatment and reuse. It also has developed the protocol to transform discarded reverse osmosis membranes in ultra-nanofiltration membranes at laboratory scale in a doctoral thesis for its use in other processes water treatment.
